Danny Wallace has been announced as the presenter of the new London Breakfast Show on alternative music station XFM.

The broadcaster, journalist and Yes Man author will front the new programme from August 1.

Wallace said: "I've been a fan of XFM for as long as it's been going and to get the Breakfast Show gig is a dream come true. Its listeners are smart and funny, its music cutting edge, and its logo light green - the three most important elements of successful breakfast broadcasting.

"I can't overstate how keen I am and how hard I will work to make the show the best it can be. I can't wait."

The London XFM Breakfast Show is currently hosted by Ian Camfield.

Programme director Andy Ashton added: "We're absolutely delighted to welcome Danny Wallace to the XFM Breakfast Show.

"Danny's intelligence, humour and passion for music make him the perfect match for our audience. His achievements so far are incredible and we can't wait to build on that with the launch of the brand new show."

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mary Anne Hobbes joined XFM in July and pledged to give listeners a "no-holds-barred blitz of new music" on her Saturday evenings show.
