On September 14, Cartoon Network HD will go live on Sky's pay-TV satellite platform, broadcasting popular shows such as Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Regular Show, Adventure Time and Star Wars: the Clone Wars in HD.
The channel will also air The Amazing World of Gumball, a new sitcom using a mix of 2D and 3D animation with live-action backgrounds, which will debut on Cartoon Network on September 5.
Anthony Lukom, the former MySpace boss who was confirmed as Turner Broadcasting's UK general manager in July, said: "The Amazing World of Gumball is a truly unique and visually groundbreaking series which blends 2D, 3D and live-action and it demands to be seen in its original breathtaking HD format. We're thrilled that this series and many more will be available in HD from this coming September."
Cartoon Network HD is the first high definition channel launched in the UK by Turner, which also runs Boomerang, Cartoonito and CB Too.
After its launch in September, the HD channel will air the reimagined version of much-loved 1980s series Thundercats, along with new action-adventure series including Transformers Prime, Battle Force 5 and Bakugan Gundalian Invaders.
