Damian Kavanagh has been appointed as the new head of scheduling for CBBC, CBeebies and all children's output on BBC One and Two.

As well as scheduling the two digital channels, he will also take an active role in "developing the content and brand strategy" for CBBC and overseeing content from the independent sector.

Currently head of scheduling at BBC Three, Kavanagh previously worked as the schedule manager for BBC One. He has been with the corporation since 1997.

"Damian has a phenomenal intuition for both programme content and scheduling," said Anne Gilchrist, creative director at CBBC. "I'm absolutely thrilled he will be joining us. His experience will be invaluable in ensuring the very best content from independent producers reaches our audience."
