The World Cup may be dominating the airwaves right now, but 44 million Europeans still found time to tune in to the French Open, according to figures from Eurosport.
The figure - which represents the unique audience across the continent - for the annual tennis tournament is up from 42 million in 2005.
Coverage of the Open was particularly successful in the UK, where British Eurosport recorded a 37% rise in average ratings and achieved a reach of 3.7 million.
The final game, between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, gave the channel its second highest peak in the UK ever with 418,000 viewers.
