According to The Guardian, You & Yours and File on 4 are the most high-profile Radio 4 shows earmarked to relocate to BBC North. Some episodes of Woman's Hour already produced in the BBC's Oxford Road studios in Manchester will also move.
In May, the BBC began the process of relocating 2,500 jobs from London and other locations to the MediaCity:UK complex in Salford Quay. It will eventually be home to various BBC departments and shows, including BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Sport and BBC One's Breakfast programme.
BBC management feels that there is sufficient space to accommodate You & Yours, the weekday programme presented by Julian Worricker, Winifred Robinson and Peter White.
Staff on the programme, which has recently shed its "cosy" image in favour of more hard-hitting investigations, were said to be "surprised" when they were informed of the relocation plans on Wednesday.
One BBC source said: "There is still capacity in Salford so people have been wondering who would go but it was a surprise for [You & Yours] staff."
A BBC spokeswoman declined to comment on the report.
