Tim Ross has launched a new radio show.
The Australian broadcaster, who used to present a morning show with Merrick Watts and former Home and Away actress Kate Ritchie, said that he is looking forward to his breakfast radio comeback when he teams up with Claire Hooper on MIXFM in January.
Ross quit his role on Nova Radio two years ago. Watts left earlier this year and was later replaced by duo Fitzy and Wippa.
Ross has now said that he now wants to poach listeners from his successors and rival radio pair Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O.
"We're not going to rocket to number one," he told The Daily Telegraph, "but I think we'll be a very successful show and take a good chunk of both their audiences.
"I have a much better understanding after being away from radio for a couple of years of what works - I won't be getting up that early for fun."
Comedienne Hooper has been hosting the MIXFM slot with Andrew Rochford for the past year. However, Rochford announced a few months ago that he would be taking on a leading role on Channel Ten's new morning show Breakfast in 2012.
The Project panel member Carrie Bickmore was recently rumoured to be joining Rochford on the new series.
