Kyle Sandilands 'has support of radio group Austereo'

Kyle Sandilands's 2DayFM job is not under threat, a report has claimed.

The radio host recently launched an on-air tirade against a journalist who had given his new television show a poor review and a number of companies - including car manufacturer Holden and the Coles supermarket chain - have withdrawn their sponsorship from his show.

An industry insider told The Daily Telegraph that a new listener satisfaction survey had always been planned and was not a direct response to the controversy.

The source also claimed that there were no plans to fire Sandilands, who is currently taking his usual summer holiday. Comedian Andy Lee is standing in on the breakfast show alongside Glenn Robbins.

The listener survey, which has been obtained by The Daily Telegraph's sister paper The Australian, does reportedly ask listeners questions about the broadcaster, including whether they think Sandilands is "naughty or nice" and if he sometimes "goes too far" on air.

It also asks listeners whether they think the Australia's Got Talent judge has a negative attitude towards women.

A spokesperson for Southern Cross Austereo responded by saying: "We're doing a lot to gauge the reaction of our clients and listeners. We're doing it as due diligence for our stakeholders. We do research every week."
