Kim Kardashian most searched-for celebrity on Google in UK during 2011

Kim Kardashian has been named as the most searched-for celebrity on Google in the UK during 2011.

The reality star cemented her place at the top of the 'zeitgeist' list after marrying basketball player Kris Humphries in August and divorcing him just 72 days later on October 31.



Victoria Beckham - who made the news after giving birth to Harper Seven, her first daughter with husband David Beckham, in July - finished in second place, while the release of the final Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 pushed its star Emma Watson into third.

Scarlett Johansson finished fourth when a series of nude photos taken for ex-husband Ryan Reynolds leaked online, while Jennifer Aniston rounded out the top five.

Ricky Gervais became the highest placed male at eight, based on his controversial stint as host of the Golden Globes in January, while the relatively unknown Jessica-Jane Clement sneaked into the Top 10 following her I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here appearance.



The royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was named as the fastest-rising search, Jackass star Ryan Dunn finished second following his fatal car crash in June and Adele came third as her sophomore album 21 lit up music charts worldwide.

Elsewhere, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was named as the most searched-for movie and The X Factor held strong at the top of the TV rankings.
