The actor - who will host the event - has been recognised for his role in BBC Radio 3's Kafka - the Musical, written by Doctor Who composer Murray Gold.

Homeland actor Damian Lewis is also nominated for Radio 3's Giovanni's Room, along with Absolutely Fabulous star June Whitfield for Radio 4's A Monstrous Vitality.

Nominees for best audio drama production include Shelagh Stephenson's Alone in Berlin, Matthew Solon's Five Days in May and Brian Sibley's The History of Titus Groan.

The inaugural awards ceremony recognises drama for both radio and online material, and will be held at the BBC Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House on January 29.

Tennant married Georgia Moffett in an intimate ceremony in London last month (December 30).
