The 68-year-old Australian radio personality, who underwent a liver transplant last year after an ongoing battle with cancer, will be joined by five other organ transplant recipients in the group.
According to The Daily Telegraph, one of the other band members is former Painters and Dockers frontman Paulie Stewart, who had a liver transplant after contracting Hepatitis C.
Hinch said: "We are just grateful to be alive and just want to thank the unknown Australians who gave us a chance to live."
The Transplants' first track will be 'You Are So Beautiful', apparently one of Hinch's favourite karaoke tunes.
Last year, Hinch described himself before cancer and the transplant as an "idiot", saying: "I'd have hated to have gone to my grave, shuffled off as a pathetic old drunk because anything you had done in your life that was good, any campaigns you'd run, would be overshadowed by the fact that you'd lost it."
