Pauline Hanson is to launch a radio career.

The controversial Australian politician, who took part in the Nine Network's Celebrity Apprentice last year, is scheduled to join Canberra radio station 2CC next week.

Hanson will host the drivetime slot alongside Mike Welsh, according to The Daily Telegraph.

In November, Hanson admitted that she would love a role in talkback radio, saying that she could help "ordinary Australians" voice what she described as their "real concerns" in a public forum.

She said: "I think people have a right to know what's going on and especially with our politics, people want an honest opinion, an informed opinion. I wouldn't mind having a go - that's if people could handle my voice."

When asked if she was planning a political comeback, former One Nation party leader Hanson said: "I'm not going to say yay or nay at this stage, I'm just going to see where life takes me."
