'Love Island' twice the price of 'Big Brother'

Excessive numbers of crew and entourage, reported to be in the hundreds, flights to the South Pacific, hotels and fees all contributed to the costs. Big Brother's production team was around 60 people, and was filmed at Elstree in Hertfordshire.
Despite the hiked production costs, the ITV1 show did not bring in the anticipated viewers for the broadcaster.
Over its run, Big Brother attracted an average adult audience of 4.2 million with Love Island only managing 2.14 million viewers.
