BBC ups high definition programming
The BBC is increasing the amount of ongoing and archive programming broadcast as part of its high definition (HDTV) trial in the run-up to Christmas.

Drama series such as the newly-launched Robin Hood, Sally Wainwright's The Amazing Mrs Pritchard and upcoming Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood will simulcast on the BBC HD channel, available on digital satellite, cable and a selected Freeview audience in London.

Natural history series - often the genre to benefit best from the HD format - on BBC HD include BBC Two's Galapagos and the second half of the acclaimed Planet Earth, to be broadcast in November.

Other shows include Sinchronicity, Jack Dee comedy Lead Balloon, new legal drama The Innocence Project and Steven Spielberg's Into The West.
