Radio 1Xtra unveils new schedule: Charlie Sloth, Yasmin Evans, more

Radio 1Xtra will roll out a revamped schedule in September, it has been announced.

Controller Ben Cooper has announced a number of changes to the urban station across the week.

Most notably, DJ Charlie Sloth will take over from Tim Westwood in the weekday drivetime slot between 4pm and 7pm. Westwood confirmed his 'sacking' on Twitter.

Hip-hop artist Sloth, who recently landed a show on Radio 1, said: "I'm very excited about being given the opportunity to speak to the nation for five days a week and for the faith put in me by the Radio 1Xtra team."

Cooper has also called on fledgling DJ Yasmin Evans, 21, to present the weekend breakfast show from 7am until 10am.

Nick Bright will now present the mid-morning show from 10am-1pm, with DJ Target moving to a weekend afternoon 4pm-7pm slot alongside his Friday night show,

Meanwhile, Edu will present a regular Sunday show from 10pm-2am and B.Traits will present a new show between 2am-4am on Sundays.

Finally, CJ Beatz's RnB Mix and Crissy Criss's Drum 'n' Bass Mix transfer to earlier timeslots of 10pm-2am on Monday and Wednesday respectively.

Cooper said: "As 1Xtra nears its 10th birthday it's great to be welcoming a new generation of presenters to the station who will take on the baton of championing the best in urban music for a young audience."
