Michael interview not much cop

ITV1's South Bank Show special featuring George Michael pulled in 2 million viewers and a 10.4% share of the audience at 10pm, but failed to be the ratings winner on Tuesday night, despite media attention.

The figures were significantly down on ITV's slot average of 3.4 million for 2006 to date.

Channel 4's showing of star-studded Amnesty International charity event The Secret Policeman's Ball, managed 1.9 million and a 14% share over the 100-minute programme.

Five's CSI: NY achieved 2.3 million and a 13.8% share, while BBC1's Ten O'Clock News was the winner in the 10pm slot with 4.5 million and a 23.9% share.

ITV1 did managed to get the viewers in earlier in the evening with live coverage of Chelsea's Champions League 2-2 draw against Barcelona, with 5.6 million viewers tuning in, peaking at 7.1 million at 9.35pm as Chelsea equalized.

The football went against EastEnders at 7.30pm which drew 8.7 million and a 41.2% share, with Holby City at 8pm managing 6.6 million and a 28.9% share.
