Ten Alps success continues as Public TV launches
Published Wednesday, Dec 6 2006, 15:08 GMT | By Joanne Oatts
Ten Alps has launched a beta version of Public TV (www.public.tv), an internet video channel about government and professional training.
The site is currently loading content, in advance of a full launch in February. Initially focussed on the UK, Public TV plans soon to add US content.
The news came as Ten Alps, the production and publishing company owned by Bob Geldof, reported a 53% revenue rise to £33.6m, for the 6 months to September 30.
Nigel Dacre, managing director of Ten Alps Digital and head of the Public TV project, said: “We think Public TV is more scaleable and timely now than when we first developed the plan in March 2006. A tidal wave of low-end, user-generated video entertainment has hit the internet, but it’s much too hard to find the video with editorial substance. Public TV addresses that.”
