Sky has signed up the production company co-owned by James Cameron to produce its live 3D coverage of the Ryder Cup later this month.

The CAMERON | PACE Group, founded by the Hollywood director and Vince Pace, will help deliver the 3D coverage from Medinah Country Club, Illinois, starting on September 28.

The Sky 3D channel will show more than 30 hours of live coverage of the golf event. This will be boosted by the technology improvements and experienced gained following Sky's first Ryder Cup 3D broadcast at Celtic Manor in 2010.

Avatar and Titanic director Cameron said that his company would help Sky offer an "exhilarating perspective" on one of the world's most famous sporting events.

"We're looking forward to working in partnership with Sky to deliver truly outstanding 3D coverage of The Ryder Cup," said Cameron.

"Drawing on CAMERON | PACE Group's global expertise in live 3D sports production, Sky's coverage will offer 3D viewers an exhilarating perspective on the one of the world's most popular sporting events."

John Cassy, the director of Sky 3D, added: "3D brings an entirely new perspective to watching golf. It picks out all the changes of height and distance on a golf course and makes them real, enabling 3D viewers to get a real sense of perspective of the undulating greens, sloping fairways and the depth of the galleries.

"It's great to be able to mark the second anniversary of Sky 3D with live coverage of one of the biggest events in sport."

The Ryder Cup helped launch Sky's 3D channel, the first of its kind in Europe, in October 2010. Since then, the network has offered 3D coverage of the US Masters in 2011 and 2012, along with Premier League and Champions League football and Premiership Rugby Union.

The 2012 Ryder Cup will close Sky 3D's biggest ever summer of 3D sport, which has already included Eurosport's 3D coverage of the French Open and Olympic Games, including 250 hours of the latter event shown on Sky 3D, including the showpiece Men's 100m final.

Live 3D coverage of the Ryder Cup from Medinah on Sky 3D runs as follows:

September 28

Day One - Foursomes matches, 12.30pm to 6.30pm
Day One - Fourballs matches, 6.30pm to 12.30pm
