UKTV Food has commissioned a new daytime cooking programme, The Market Kitchen, which will be partly broadcast from a London market.
Borough Market, one of the UK's best-known farmer’s markets, will be the back-drop for an initial 12 month run from April 2007.
The 90 minute programme will replaces Prospect Pictures’ Great Food Live! which has been presented by Jeni Barnett since UKTV Food launched in November 2001.
UKTV Food’s channel head Paul Moreton said: “Having pioneered the format five years ago, we are now breaking away from the studio-based food shows of today to create a totally new kind of food magazine show with The Market Kitchen. It’s our most ambitious commission to date in terms of both budget and scale and we’re thrilled to be working with Optomen, who’ve got a proven track record producing innovative food programming.”
Presenting the show will be Two Fat Ladies' cook Clasrissa Dickson Wright, chef Simon Rimmer, Gordon Ramsay's wife and cookery writer, Tana Ramsay, and food columnist Tom Parker-Bowles, along with a weekly guest chef.
The will be produced by Optomen Television, the company behind The Naked Chef, Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Great British Menu.
