Fru Hazlitt is to join GCap Media from May as managing Director, GCap London.
As well as gaining a seat on the board, she will take responsibility for Capital Radio and Choice FM, as well as national commercial sales and online operations.
Ralph Bernard, chief executive of GCap Media, said: “Fru’s unrivalled radio, commercial and online experience will prove tremendous assets to the Group. She is committed to returning Capital Radio to the number one position in London, developing the London portfolio and maximising the commercial potential of our strong brands both through traditional radio advertising and online.”
Hazlitt recently left SMG-owned Virgin Radio, where she was chief executive, a position she held since April 2005. Previously, she was managing director of Yahoo! UK & Ireland for two years, and the company’s European sales director. Between 1996 and 1999, she worked as a sales director for the Guardian Media Group and Capital Radio.
Hazlitt said:" I have worked across all media but have developed a genuine passion for radio and strongly believe that GCap can lead the way in the development of its future."
Group operations director Steve Orchard will continue to have responsibility for the One Network - the 42 stations outside London, and all national brands including Classic FM, Xfm and Gold.
