NBC appoints new lead for Japan

NBC Universal International has appointed Taichi Fukuda as managing director, Japan Representative.
Fukuda, in a newly-created role based in Tokyo, will lead strategic business growth opportunities for NBC Universal in Japan, including Universal Pictures Japan, the Studio’s home entertainment arm, TV and new media distribution, mobile Entertainment and CNBC.
Peter Smith, recently appointed president of NBC, Peter Smith, made the announce today, saying: “Taichi is an accomplished executive with a great track record of business development and growth leadership."
"Our focus is to extend NBCU’s global footprint and accelerate international growth and this key role will facilitate the execution of new business opportunities in this vital region," he added.
Fukuda was previously business development director for General Electric Japan. Before joining GE, he held a number of senior positions in business development and strategic planning roles within Dentsu Inc in Japan. NBC Universal is 80%-owned by General Electric, with 20% controlled by Vivendi.
