Channel 4 has bowed to pressure from MPs and the public, to donate the profits from tonight's Celebrity Big Brother's eviction vote to charity.
Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty and fellow housemate Jade Goody's are both up for eviction from the show in a public vote.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said the money from the telephone vote would be distributed between charities nominated by the contestants at the end of the show.
It follows complaints of alleged racist abuse of Shetty by Goody and some of her fellow housemates.
Ofcom has now received a reported 38,000 complaints about the programme. The Perfume Shop has withdrawn Goody's fragrance from its shelves until further notice, and model Danielle Lloyd has lost a modelling contract.
