New direction emerging for Five
Published Friday, Jan 19 2007, 11:36 GMT | By Joanne Oatts

According to Broadcast, Five commissioners have been in discussions with production companies and are "back in the market for programmes", after a commissioning freeze which followed Dan Chambers departure in October. Insiders suggest the focus is on more niche programming.
Five has also added to its multi-channel team by hiring Nikki Cooper from Prospect Pictures as channel editor for Five Life and Five US.
She was series editor at Prospect and was behind for the launch of Great Food Live! for UKTV Food in 2001. The show is to be replaced by Optomen production The Market Kitchen in April this year.
