Clare Pizey has been appointed creative director of the features and formats studio.
Currently controller of features at Granada, she will work in the newly created position as a senior member of the features and formats team, tasked with taking the team in new directions and winning new business.
The London-based Features and Formats Studio produces the likes of Top Gear; What Not to Wear, Watchdog, Rogue Traders and Crimewatch UK and the recent Last Man Standing series for BBC Three.
Bridget Boseley, studio head for factual and features, said: "I'm delighted that Clare is coming to join the team. We've worked together in the past and I know she will make a valuable contribution to the studio."
Pizey spent the past seven years at Granada, first as executive producer at Granada Entertainment and then, from 2005, as controller of factual North.
At Granada she worked on The Beckhams' World Cup Party, The 100 Greatest and Best Ever brands, Package Holiday Undercover, Find A Fortune, Challenge Anneka and co-created American format hit Nanny 911.
Clare worked at the BBC seven years ago in the factual department for Anne Morrison, working on programmes including Mysteries With Carol Vorderman and 999.
Pizey said: "I'm very much looking forward to coming back to the BBC and working alongside Bridget and her team to take the studio into some new and, I hope, exciting directions."
