Hammond's return tops 'Celebrity Big Brother'

Between 8pm and 9pm, Top Gear averaged 7.9m viewers, a 28% share of the audience. It peaked between 8:45pm and 9pm, when footage of Hammond's crash in a jet-powered vehicle was aired for the first time, with 8.6m viewers - a 30% share of the audience - tuning in.
ITV1's Wild At Heart took second place for the hour with 6.8m viewers, a 24% audience share. The first hour of Celebrity Big Brother's final - which saw Danielle Lloyd, Jack Tweed and Ian Watkins evicted from the Big Brother house - was watched by 4.9m viewers, a 17% share of the audience.
Audiences for Celebrity Big Brother built through the 9pm hour, during which The A-Team and Battlestar Galactica star Dirk Benedict was evicted in third place, and Shilpa Shetty was named the winner of the series ahead of second-place Jermaine Jackson. Across the hour the show averaged 6.8m viewers, peaking in the last 15 minutes with 7.3m.
BBC One's Waking The Dead nipped at Celebrity Big Brother's heels during the hour, averaging 6.7m viewers and a 25% share. Trial and Retribution over on ITV1 averaged 4.9m viewers from 9pm to 10:30pm.
