Blockbuster launches movies magazine on tablets

Blockbuster, the movie rental chain, has launched a new monthly magazine on tablet devices in the hope of increasing sales.

The digital magazine, Blockbuster's first foray into digital publishing, is available on iPad, Android tablets and Amazon Kindle devices.

Featuring embedded trailers, interactive content and exclusive trailers, the title covers everything from new cinema releases to what's out on DVD and Blu-ray. There is also a games section.

Created in-house by Blockbuster's content team, the magazine also has links for customers to link through to Blockbuster.co.uk and add featured movies to their rental lists, or pre-order them online via 'Click & Collect'.

Blockbuster's head of online Malachi Simons said that the firm aims to deliver the "biggest digital movie and game magazine in the UK".

"2012 has definitely been the year of the tablet and we're very proud of our new digital magazine," he said.

"We believe that this is one of the best free magazines on the market and a great way for customers to stay up to date with the latest movies, games and trailers - there are over 50 titles featured in issue 1 alone.

"We believe it delivers content in an exciting and visually impressive style which will continue to develop over the coming issues. Our aim is to deliver the biggest digital movie and game magazine in the UK."

The free Blockbuster Magazine can be downloaded at the iOS App Store, Google Play and the Kindle Store.
