Unnamed members of his production team have also been censured by the broadcaster, but Schofield will still appear on the show today (November 15).
Ofcom has also launched an investigation into the programme. Conservative MP Rob Wilson had reported ITV to the media regulator, while criminal justice minister Damian Green called the stunt "silly and tasteless".
When it was claimed that some of the names on the list had been visible to viewers at home, Schofield apologised, blaming a "misjudged camera angle".
Ofcom will also investigate BBC's Newsnight after it broadcast a programme wrongly claiming that an unnamed Tory grandee had abused children at a care home in Wales, with the wrongly-accused man being identified on social media as Lord McAlpine.
The controversial broadcast led to the resignation of director general George Entwistle and others.
