The six-year contract - reported to be worth more than £250 million - covers network and London regional news programming. ITV, which owns 40% of ITN, will also invest £15 million in a £20 million modernisation of ITN's newsroom.
ITN chief executive, Mark Wood, told Broadcast: "We want to make big investments and improve the news operations. This deal ensures that, and offers long term security. It will help us attract talent, it will help with alliance planning and it will help us develop interactive and multi-platform services."
The new deal will see greater investment in one-off news programmes like the Three Degrees From Disaster series and Antarctica, The Big Melt.
Executive chairman of ITV, Michael Grade, has said previously that one of his main objectives at ITV was improving its news output.
