The BBC is to air a service from a church that has been a focal point for gay, lesbian and transgender Catholics around the world.
A service from the Catholic Parish of Most Holy Redeemer, in San Francisco's gay Castro district, will air at 8.10am on Sunday April 29 on BBC Radio 4.
The church offers a "spiritual home" to all, including LGBT church members and parishioners with HIV/AIDS.
Father Donal Godfrey SJ of the University of San Francisco will reportedly conduct the service, with James Alison, theologian and author of Is it Ethical To Be Catholic? - Queer Perspectives, also preaching.
The service was recorded in October, and will be broadcast during the Sunday Worship slot, which currently averages 2 million weekly listeners.
