Russell Brand to return to XFM alongside Noel Gallagher

By
Russell Brand is to make a return to XFM with a series of new radio shows.

Brand began his career in radio at XFM in 2002, before being fired reportedly for reading out 'pornography' on air and letting homeless people into the studio.

RadioToday now reports that Brand is to join Noel Gallagher and former producer Matt Morgan for a week of shows in March.

The shows will coincide with this year's Teenage Cancer Trust gigs, which are being curated by Gallagher and feature a lineup including Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Primal Scream and Brand himself.

Gallagher said: "Xfm asked me if I wanted to do my own radio show leading up to this year's TCT concerts. I said, I have a better idea. Why don't we resurrect whats-his-name's career? That hairy skinny-legged yogameister, Rustle Brand? Last seen shaming the nation at them Olympics…

"It'll be great to remind people how colossal me, Matt Morgan and Mr Gee were on that bloody show before 'Arthur' got us all the sack. Tune in and see if I'm wrong."

Brand said of the new shows: "I miss radio. It was lovely when we did the show. It'll be great to get the old team back together."

The Teenage Cancer Trust shows will run from March 19 to March 24.
