The BBC has published 47,000 names on the BBC News website so far, with a further 5,000 awaiting publication.
The 44-year-old journalist has not been seen since he was abducted in the area more than six weeks ago.
A rally in support of Johnston's release is being held today at the main crossing point between Israel and the Gaza Strip by members of Israel's Foreign Press Association.
Organisers hope to pressurize Palestinian authorities to secure the reporter's release.
