A memo sent to staff also states that the editor of The Independent on Sunday John Mullin has been let go, Guido Fawkes reports.
Furthermore, The Independent and Evening Standard - both owned by Russian-born Evgeny Lebedev and his father Alexander, will now be produced on the same floor.
The Evening Standard will be "wholly editorially integrated" into the seven-day operation headed up by current editor of The Independent Chris Blackhurst, but The Guardian reports that Sarah Sands will remain as editor of the London daily afternoon freesheet.
Blackhurst is reported to have told staff about the changes late this morning (February 12).
A TV studio will also be built in the shared newsroom.
Last week, Lebedev's Evening Standard secured a prestige licence to run a local TV service in London, with the new network expected to reach around 4 million homes in the capital.
