New award for MGEITF announced

The MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival (MGEITF) has a announced a new category for Producer of the Year.
The prize is aimed at production companies who have made an outstanding range of programmes throughout the year and who those surveyed would be most keen to work for.
The festival has also launched online voting for Channel of the Year with prizes for Best Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial channels, plus a prize for TV Personality of the Year and Industry Player of the Year.
Last year the Best Terrestrial channel was awarded to Channel Four, and Non Terrestrial to BBC Four. Sir David Attenborough was crowned TV Personality of the Year and Russell T Davies as Industry Player of the Year.
Online research company YouGov will be polling the media industry to get votes on the Non-Terrestrial Channel of the Year. The survey, which opens today at www.yougov.com/mgeitf/ includes the chance to win a TV Festival delegate pass and two nights in a top Edinburgh hotel for the festival weekend.
The awards will take place during on Saturday August 25 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
