VoD service Joost goes live
Published Tuesday, May 1 2007, 16:26 BST | By Joanne Oatts
Video-on-demand broadband service Joost has launched commercially, with more than 150 content channels.
Backed by the founders of Skype, Joost has only been available to 'testers' until today, but those users can now invite others to use the service.
A small application must be downloaded to view the video streams, which offers full-screen high quality video.
Over 32 advertisers, including Coca Cola, Hewlett Packard, Intel and Nike, have signed up to feature ads during the film content.
Joost has a series of content deals in recent weeks with the likes of Viacom, CNN, Sony and now Turner providing content.
Though users might need to check their ISP usage restrictions before using the service, as some could find themselves paying extra if they exceed limits set by their provider.
