Andy Murray congratulated on Sports Personality win by Adidas - picture

Andy Murray has been congratulated on his BBC Sports Personality of the Year win by Adidas.

The sports apparel company has released a new advert that pokes fun at Murray's low-key personality.

Murray appeared excited as he accepted the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year trophy from Martina Navratilova via video link in Miami, although he joked that his voice "always sounds incredibly boring" no matter how happy he is.

He was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is recovering from surgery on a disc in his lower back.

This honour came on the heels of Murray becoming the first British tennis player to win a Wimbledon men's singles title since 1936.

Rugby union star Leigh Halfpenny was the runner-up in the BBC's annual awards ceremony, with jockey AP McCoy finishing third.
