Weekend Spy - Job Spec: Elaine Bancroft
Published Sunday, Jun 3 2007, 06:00 BST | By Joanne Oatts
Each week we'll be asking people from all parts of the media industry - from channel controllers to catering staff, directors to digital technicians - to tell us about themselves and their job.
This week it's the turn of former series editor for BBC’s Food and Drink show and features editor for This Morning, Elaine Bancroft, who has recently started working on Prospect Pictures' Daily Cooks! and Saturday Cooks! on ITV1.
Name
Elaine Bancroft
Job Title
Executive producer, Saturday Cooks and Daily Cooks.
Age
Yes, I do have one.
Lives
Fulham, West London
In the role since
February 2007
Best thing about your job
Free food and kissing Jean Christophe Novelli.
Worst thing about your job
Unseemly jealousy about the free food and kissing jean Christophe!
What question have you been asked most this week?
"What happens to the food on Daily Cooks?"
First thing you do in the morning when you get in
Check the papers to see if anyone I know has been caught doing something naughty.
Any downsides to working in the media?
It is, without doubt, the second best job in the world! The best job is clearly being Lady McCartney…
First media job
Trainee radio reporter at Southern Sound in Brighton in late 80s.
Biggest achievement to date
'Selling holidays' at Buckingham Palace at a Texan travel fair for a documentary on con tricks, interviewing Robert Maxwell in his penthouse, wing walking as a radio reporter. (I know I know, WHY??????)
Anything you wish you'd done differently
Taken the city job my dad set up for me - could be retired by now with millions in the bank.
Dream job/company/lifestyle
Obviously this one…and being Lady McCartney?
Best media jolly/event you've ever attended
Fireworks party at Ozzy Osbourne's house.
Who is your favourite chef?
That’s like asking me to choose between my kids….but if I must…Antony Worrall Thompson, of course. (Seen here with Ms Bancroft!)
The third series of Daily Cooks! and Saturday Cooks! begins later this summer.
