The BBC did well at the Webby Awards this week, winning three prizes for its websites.

The BBC News website picked up two awards for Best News Website, as well as the People's Choice Award for online news sites for the third year running. The BBC's Radio 1 website also won an award for Best Radio Website.

Allowed just a five-word acceptance speech, the BBC News website team used the words to focus on missing BBC Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston, saying: "Alan, we're thinking of you."

The BBC also received the most nominations of any organisation in this year's awards.

Now in their eleventh year, the Webby winners are chosen from nearly 8,000 entries from 60 different countries.

Other winners include YouTube creators Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, The Guardian, which won best newspaper website, and David Bowie and auction site eBay, both receiving Lifetime Achievement Awards at the ceremony in New York.
