ITV2 named channel of the year

ITV2 won channel of the year at the Broadcast Digital Channel Awards 2007 last night.
Judges said the channel had a strong identity and new-found confidence, and "takes risks, is capable of surprising and it does the numbers."
ITV2, which also won an award for best entertainment channel, beat highly commended channel BBC Four, Paramount Comedy and Sky One, to win the top prize.
UKTV Food won awards for best specialist channel and best online community site, and former UKTV chief executive Dick Emery won an award for individual achievement.
Sky News was voted the best news channel, with Sky One winning the interactive award for Hogfather.
The Disney Channel beat Nickelodeon and CBeebies to the prize for best children's channel, with Nick Jr highly commended.
Best transactional channel was won by Movies Now, and singer Sandi Thom's 21 Nights from Tooting by Streaming Tank, took best use of broadband. Endemol's Get Close To... content, in partnership with mobile provider 02, saw it win a mobile TV award. Today on 3 Live was also highly commended in the mobile category.
