Former Xfm DJ Lauren Laverne is to host the awards ceremony at the Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival.

The event, which will be held on Saturday August 25 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, sees prizes given out for Terrestrial and Non Terrestrial Channel of the Year, along with other awards including Personality of the Year.

UKTV Gold, Sky One, BBC Three, BBC Four, MORE4 and ITV2 form the non-terrestrial shortlist, with all five terrestrial channels on the list for the Terrestrial Channel of the Year award.

The BBC has dominated the non-terrestrial category for the past two years with BBC Four and BBC Three taking the honours in 2006 and 2005 respectively. The 2006 terrestrial award was last year won by Channel 4.

The list was formed from an online poll conducted by YouGov, where members of the public voted on criteria such as programming, commercial success, innovation, successful targeting and channel branding.

The shortlist will now be judged by the MGEITF Executive Chair and Executive Committee members.
