3.2 million enjoy 'Summer Wine'

Last of the Summer Wine began its 28th series last night, with an average of 3.2 million tuning in to watch the first episode.
The show, which is written by Roy Clarke, gave BBC One a 18.6% share at 6.20pm, growing its audience from 2.7 million to 3.4 million over the 30 minutes.
The series, which follows the exploits of a group of retired men in a Yorkshire village, is the UK's longest running sitcom. The first episode aired on November 12, 1973.
Summer Wine was beaten in the ratings by Channel 4's long-runner Big Brother, which averaged 3.6 million viewers at 9pm, but with a lower audience share of 15.5%.
