RDF takes share price hit
Published Thursday, Jul 19 2007, 12:43 BST | By Joanne Oatts
RDF Media said it is hoping to score new commissions from the BBC, following its "serious error of judgment" in the editing of trailer for a BBC documentary about the Queen.
Yesterday the BBC said in a statement that there would be a "pause in commissioning any new programmes" from RDF until its investigations into what happened were completed.
The controversy has already had an impact on RDF's share price which fell to 225p this morning, down from last night's close of 251.5p, but was rose again slightly this lunchtime at 229.13p.
A stock market statement from the company this morning said: "RDF notes the announcement made yesterday by BBC Director-General in relation to various incidents involving the BBC including that involving its press launch for the series A Year with the Queen."
"The Directors are confident that RDF will be able to satisfy the BBC that it will put in place steps to ensure an incident of this sort does not happen again. The Directors are also confident therefore that the BBC will resume commissioning new programmes from RDF."
"The Directors do not consider that any pause in commissioning by the BBC will have a material impact on the Group's results in the current year. RDF expects contracted revenues from the BBC to account for approximately 10% of the Group's total revenues this year. The Directors remain confident of prospects for the full year."
