Animal Planet and Discovery Turbo go mobile

Discovery Networks has launched Discovery Turbo and Animal Planet on mobile TV.
From Wednesday August 8, Vodafone and Orange customers will have access to exclusive made-for-mobile content from Discovery Turbo and Animal Planet, as well as content from the linear channels.
The move signals a re-brand of the existing Discovery ‘factual’ and ‘lifestyle’ mobile TV channels.
Keith Underwood, vice president commercial, Discovery Networks UK, said: "These new launches are part of a broader strategy to further integrate digital media services, building a stronger and more complementary relationship with our linear channels."
"Going forward, we will continue to develop, assemble and deploy content of the highest quality on all viable distribution platforms to ensure we are where our consumers want us," he added.
Both Discovery Turbo and Animal Planet mobile TV are available on subscription as part of the Sky Mobile package.
Discovery Turbo will be shown in 20 minute batches, available on-demand and updated every weekday, with content from shows including The Garage and American Chopper. The launch of a dedicated Turbo branded channel on mobile TV mirrors Discovery’s launch of the Discovery Turbo linear channel in May of this year.
Animal Planet mobile content will be offered on-demand as a one hour weekly loop and will showcase shortform versions of the channel’s most popular programming including the award-winning Meerkat Manor and Crocodile Hunter Diaries.
Both channels will also show exclusive-to-mobile content including behind-the-scenes footage, highlights, talent interviews and information guides.
