BBC Worldwide has recruited MTV UK's John Taite as director of programming, global channels, EMEA.
Taite, who was director of scheduling and acquisitions for MTV Networks UK and Ireland, will look after the programming and scheduling strategies for all BBC Worldwide channels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
While at MTV, Taite was involved in commissioning UK shows like Pimp My Ride, Footballer's Cribs and Virgin Diaries.
He begins his role on September 24, reporting to BBC Global Channels' senior vice president of EMEA, Dean Possenniskie, and David Weiland, BBCWW's head of programming.
Taite told C21: "It’s exciting to join BBC Worldwide at such a pivotal stage of its expansion. The Global Channels portfolio has huge growth potential and the ambition is backed by investment and a brand value that is obviously phenomenal."
Elsewhere, the BBC has appointed Sanjay Nazerali as controller of marketing, communications and audiences for its Global News Division, which includes BBC World Service, BBC World television, BBC Monitoring and the BBC's international facing online news services.
Nazerali joins in September from The Depot, a marketing consultancy he co-founded in 1998, where he worked with broadcasting clients including Channel 4, ITV and the BBC World Service.
