The nominations for the annual BT Digital Music Awards have been announced, with GCap Media looking a strong contender for the audio and radio categories.
The media group has three nominations for the Best Radio Station award with Planet Rock, children's service FUN Radio and XFM, alongside BBC 6 Music and school radio network, Radio Waves.
GCap's Classic FM is also up for the Podcast Award, for its Tony Robinson’s Friendly Guide to Music series. Other nominations includes 4Radio’s Slash Music, Drowned in Sound, Hospital Records’ London Elektricity and The Guardian Music Weekly podcast.
In the Best Digital Service, theJazz - launched by GCap at the end of last year - also has a nomination. MSN Live Earth, Now Play It, We7 and Yahoo! Music UK & Ireland are also in the running for the award.
Gavin Patterson, BT’s managing director of consumer, said: "The field of digital music continues to grow and grow and with it so have the BT Digital Music Awards. The level and quality of entries this year reflects how important digital platforms are to music artists – we’re looking forward to see who the winners will be.”
Thirteen of the categories are awarded from a combination of votes from the public and an industry panel, with the remain seven voted for by the panel.
The ceremony will be held at Camden’s Roundhouse on Tuesday October 2, with coverage on Channel 4, including a special ‘behind the scenes’ programme presented by Alex Zane and a series of 15-minute preview shows in the run up to the night.
