Lucas and Fry to say 'This Is Your Life' to R4
Published Thursday, Aug 30 2007, 11:26 BST | By Joanne Oatts
A special radio comedy edition of This Is Your Life will see the likes of Stephen Fry and Matt Lucas pay tribute to Radio 4.
Fry will narrate the show, which is to be performed in front of a live audience at Broadcasting House's Radio Theatre. Lucas will 'play' Radio 4, alongside appearances from guest stars including John Humphrys, Sue Lawley, Jonathan Dimbleby, Barry Cryer, Martin Jarvis and Rabbi Lionel Blue.
The station is 40-years-old at the end of September, and the special programme will take a humourous look at its history. Other documentaries, which trace the history of the BBC stations Radio 1, 2, 3 and 4 - all celebrating 40 years on air - will also feature.
A documentary about the first record ever played on Radio 1 - Flowers in the Rain - will look at the song's history and be presented by the first DJ on Radio 1, Tony Blackburn.
