Starting on Monday September 17 with Paul McCartney, the hour-long evening shows will see the stars playing the tunes that inspired them and in some way led them to make music themselves.
Dave Grohl, Gwen Stefani, Paul Weller, Paul Oakenfold will follow on subsequent days, with Noel Gallagher, Debbie Harry, Arctic Monkeys, Ozzy Osbourne and Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) lined up for the following week.
On Sunday September 30, the day Radio 1 first broadcast in 1967, current DJs will co-host shows with iconic Radio 1 DJs from the past.
Chris Moyles will be joined by the first man to broadcast on Radio 1 - Tony Blackburn - for a special breakfast show at 7am.
Then Vernon Kay will feature several former breakfast show hosts in his show from 10am-1pm, followed by a joint show from friends and ex-breakfast show hosts Sara Cox & Zoe Ball.
The Chart Show at 4pm will feature regular presenters JK & Joel alongside former Top 40 hosts Mark Goodier and Bruno Brookes, with the two Annies - veteran DJ Annie Nightingale and relative newcomer Annie Mac - co-hosting a request show at 7pm.
A documentary about the history of the station - The A-Z of Radio 1 - will air at 9pm, with a tribute to the late John Peel at 10pm, hosted by actor Elijah Wood.
