A joint venture between the major broadcasters to help them comply with ICSTIS rules on premium rate phone lines is being considered, according to reports.
The company would work with the premium rate regulator and the broadcasters to ensure the phone-in problems that have blighted the channels this year - on high profile shows like Richard & Judy, X Factor and Brainteaser - would not happen again or that any issues would be properly dealt with.
Insiders told Broadcast that the project is in its early stages, but suggested that the networks are keen use premium rate phone lines in their shows again while ensuring viewer trust is maintained.
