Lee will work with new director of programmes, Jay Hunt, who begins her role next week.
Lisa Opie, Five’s managing director of content said: "I am delighted we have been able to appoint such a talented individual to such a critical role for Five. I am sure he will make a huge contribution to Jay Hunt’s team."
At Channel 4, Lee was responsible for programming such as That’ll Teach ‘Em, Worst Jobs in History, Not Forgotten with Ian Hislop and The Real Da Vinci Code.
Lee said: "I’m excited at the prospect of joining Five. There’s a real opportunity to build on the channel’s strengths in factual programming and to take on the challenge of opening up new areas for the output."
