Altnet's chief technology officer Anthony Rose has been appointed head of digital media technology at the BBC.
Rose, who will be responsible for leading the development of iPlayer and the BBC's ambitions to create a common media experience across all its online properties, spent six years at Altnet during which he worked on the controversial peer-to-peer file sharing programme Kazaa. Prior to that, he was vice president for technology at Sega Australia New Developments.
"I am delighted to welcome Anthony to the BBC," said Erik Huggers, controller of BBC Future Media and Technology Group, who made the appointment. "His knowledge and expertise in the digital media field is world class. I look forward to working closely with him to take our on demand services to the next stage."
