Rival Media has acquired the Anglophone territory rights to Dutch reality show format The Butler.
The show, which was originally devised by Dutch-based Tribune A, has been developed by Rival Media in association with Dutch format agency Absolutely Independent, which holds the distribution rights.
The Butler sees contestants competing to be head butler to a very demanding family, and is one of raft of entertainment formats Rival Media is showcasing at Mipcom next month.
Others include gameshow Total Recall which pitches memory over general knowledge; stunt-based format I Predict A Riot; Trust Me I'm Beautiful with six 'gorgeous' people competing for the attention of one 'ordinary' contestant; and Saturday night entertainment show Situation Vacant, a location-based, hidden-camera gameshow, where contestants "won’t even know that they’re taking part until the final 'reveal'".
Rival Media was set up in February by former Disney executive Howard Myers and Steve Wynne, a former director of production at Warner Brothers International Television.
