Stars from the UK are a success in the US because they are less politically correct, one TV executive has said.

Speaking at Broadcast's "Cracking the US" event this week, Fremantle creative director Eugene Young reportedly said that using a "sophisticated British host" allowed producers to get away with being non-PC in a US TV industry that was less likely to take risks.

Young said UK stars were "more direct and say it how it is", and pointed at Gordon Ramsay, Simon Cowell and Anne Robinson as examples.
